Band Staff



Eric Criss - Director of Bands
Mr. Criss graduated from Northwestern High School in West Salem, OH. In 1999 Mr. Criss earned a B.S. in Music Education and Music(Trumpet) at Grace College in Winona Lake, IN. Currently Mr. Criss is pursuing his Masters Degree at Ball State. In addition to directing Red Regiment and NorthWood Bands, Mr. Criss also performs in the Wagon Wheel Theatre pit orchestra.
Maureen Gray - Assisant Band Director
Mrs. Gray is originally from the Columbus, OH area. She graduated from Pickerington High School in Pickerington, OH. Her musical studies took her to the University of Dayton in Dayton, OH where she earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education (flute) in 2002. Mrs. Gray is proud to be starting her fifth year of teaching at both NorthWood Middle School and NorthWood High School.
Alex Rot - Percussion Instructor
Alex Rot grew up in Elgin, IL, and graduated from Larkin High School. In 2007, Mr. Rot received his Bachelor of Music in Music Education from DePaul University in Chicago. Mr. Rot moved to Indiana in the summer of 2008; in addition to his involvement with the Red Regiment, Mr. Rot currently teaches 7th-grade General Music at NorthWood Middle School and is the assistant director of the NorthWood Middle School Pep Band.


Alex Yoder - Music Arranger/Drill Writer
Mr. Yoder has worked with Mr. Criss since 2006. Alex is a graduate of Ball State and Carroll High School (Ft. Wayne). Alex is the author of uTutti, a web-based music teacher's office (www.ututti.com). Mr. Yoder has had numerous compositions published and performed. (www.alexyoder.net)
Robyn Myers - Flute Coach

Mandy Peters - Junior Staff
Mandy Peters is an alum from Columbia City High School, in Columbia City, IN. While in high school, Mandy was selected for the Indiana Bandmaster Association All-State Band. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor's of Music Education at Grace College.
 

Ben Essick - Sax Coach
Ben Essick graduated from the Home School system in Warsaw, IN where he was able to be heavily involved in music at Grace College because of the late Dr. James H. Chandler. He is currently studying to get his B.S. in Music Education from IPFW under the teaching of Dr. James Vernon.

 
Dr. Timothy Sanborn - Brass Coach
Dr. Sanborn is currently the Grace College School of Music Theory Department head. Dr. Sanborn teaches Music Theory and Low Brass at Grace College. Dr. Sanborn received his DM (Brass Pedagogy) from Indiana University, Bloomington in 2000. Dr. Sanborn also holds an MM (Brass Pedagogy) University of Michigan, and a BM (Music Theory/Performance) Baylor University.
